1. The Dresden Files, Jim Butcher: LOVE the Harry-verse, can’t get enough of it.
2. The Fallen Angels, Mary Jo Putney: this compelling series about four school-hood chums all grown up is my favorite historical series. I remember when I first found it how unique I thought it was that MJP was following four men, rather than women. And although series-itis is rampant in the industry, this series still stands out as different.
3. Southern Vampire, Charlaine Harris: though I've soured a bit on the vampire-werewolf smorgasbord out there, I'm far from tired of Sookie and friends.
4. Dark-Hunter, Sherrilyn Kenyon: like Buffy for grown-ups. I love this universe that SK has set up. Hunky men, snappy dialogue, gods running amok in modern society!
5. In Death, JD Robb: even when the mysteries suck, the character development is beyond compare.
6. Outlander, Diana Gabaldon: blew my mind the first time I read it.
7. Weather Wardens, Rachel Caine: Joanne Baldwin is an amazing kick-ass heroine, and I’m thrilled with this series b/c it’s so different.
8. Women of the Otherworld, Kelley Armstrong: I love Elena and her entire gang.
9. Anita Blake (up to book 8 or so), Laurell K. Hamilton: although the continuing downward spiral of this formerly page-turning series makes me weep, I still pine for the Anita of yore, who didn’t solve everything with her magic va-jay-jay. Not to mention a Jean-Claude who wasn't a lapdog.
10. Summoning, Tanya Huff: Hell talks to itself in all caps – how could I resist?!
11. The World of the Lupi, Eileen Wilks: although this series is only three books in so far, they are strong books with a lot of complexity and promise.
12. The Hollows, Kim Harrison: another strong female done right.
13. Hitchhiker’s, Douglas Adams: DNA is the master.
